Andalusia’s Paige Caraway had 18 strikeouts and allowed one hit in her team’s 1-0 win over Thomasville Monday night at the Andalusia Sports Complex.
This is the first area win for the Lady Bulldogs (3-0).
“Paige had one of the most dominating pitching performances I’ve ever seen in high school softball,” Andalusia coach Marcus Taylor said.
The Lady Bulldogs scored their only run in the fourth inning. Abbie Young hit a single and got on base. Olivia Dixon relieved Young as a courtesy runner and later scored on an error from Thomasville’s first baseman.
Young was 2-for-3 with one double and one single.
Throughout the game, Andalusia only had two errors.
“We had opportunities to score with runners with our best batters up, but we didn’t get timely hits,” Taylor said. “Thomasville played real well on defense. That turned out to be the difference in the game.”
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to play Opp on Thursday afternoon. The junior varsity game will begin at 4 p.m.
