Opp claimed its third win in three games Tuesday night at Merchants Field, defeating Elba 7-4.
Jantzen Flowers and Drew Smith took control of the game on the mound pitching four and three innings, respectively.
Flowers had six strikeouts and Smith had one.
“Both (Flowers and Smith) did a nice job,” Opp coach Michael Cassady said. “We did some good things offensively.
“I was trying to give some guys that haven’t pitched some innings to save my Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 pitchers for St. James this weekend.”
On base running, the Bobcats (8-2, 1-0 in Class 4A, Area 2) had seven stolen bases and catcher Dillan Ziglar managed to throw three runners out at second base.
In hitting, Opp’s Alex Banks, Steadman Gerber, Gavin Free, Flowers had one hit each; and Ziglar and Britt Wilson had two hits each.
Tonight, Opp will host St. James at 5 p.m. in area play. On Friday, the Bobcats will travel to Montgomery to play St. James in a doubleheader, which starts at 4 p.m.
