Second-ranked Pleasant Home finished in third place at the annual Andalusia High School softball tournament Saturday night at the Andalusia Sports Complex.
The Lady Eagles fell to Slocomb in the loser’s bracket championship game, 6-4.
Pleasant Home coach Jimmy Reeves said Slocomb gave a good effort against his team.
“Those little girls from Slocomb — you’ve got to take your hats off to them,” he said. “They’ve been playing since 8 o’clock (Saturday morning), and they just wanted it more than we did.”
Brentin Fuller hit an RBI single in the second inning to get the scoring drive going for the Lady Eagles. May Schwartz then came in on an error to give her team a 2-0 lead.
Slocomb scored one run in the second inning, three in the third and two in the fourth in the win.
Pleasant Home’s last two runs in the game came in the third inning on two hits and one walk.
Robyn Weaver hit an RBI single to score Megan Cook. Weaver came in on a passed ball.
Earlier on Saturday, Pleasant Home met Slocomb in its first game of the tournament, winning 3-0.
In their second game, the Lady Eagles beat Northview (Fla.) 4-2 before falling to Enterprise 3-1.
“We came out and beat two really good teams this morning,” Reeves said. “Then we had a long sit, and I thought we played well against Enterprise. We didn’t bow up like we should have. Then in (the Slocomb) game, I just got to give it to Slocomb. They just beat us, and that’s all you can say.”
