PHS boys win 1, lose 1
Straughn and Pleasant Home split wins Tuesday night in a doubleheader at PHS.
The Tigers won the first game 2-1 in 10 innings, and the Eagles prevailed in the second game, winning 16-8 rallying from six runs down in the second inning.
In the first game, there were no runs on the board until the fourth inning when Pleasant Home took a 1-0 lead.
Straughn tied the game up in the seventh inning and scored its winning run in the tenth.
Pleasant Home’s Sid Newby was 3-for-4.
In the second game, the Eagles were trailing 6-0 in the second inning and matched Straughn’s six runs to tie the game.
In the third inning, Pleasant Home went ahead 10-6 and kept hitting the ball and getting on base with walks, PHS coach Bradley Stephens said.
Josh Godwin was 1-for-3 with one double and two walks; Colter Poole was 2-for-4 with one single and one triple; Hunter Weaver was 2-for-3 with two singles; Forrest Greathouse was 2-for-3 with two singles and one walk; and Newby was 2-for-3 with two singles and one walk.
