Andalusia ended its regular season series with Daleville Monday night, winning 18-7 in five innings.

Trailing 6-4, Andalusia scored 14 runs late in the game to seal the win over Daleville.

With this win, the Bulldogs improve to 12-14 overall, and 3-0 in Class 4A, Area 3.

The win Monday night also put Andalusia with more wins this year compared to last year.

“That’s one of our goals is to have more wins than we did last year,” Andalusia coach Jonathan Rasberry said. “I thought we were patient at the plate. Our guys refused to get out. They didn’t let up.”

Winning pitcher Stewart Studstill came in during the second inning and struck out nine.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs will host Thomasville in area play, and if they win that game, they will be the No. 1 seed in their area.

Rasberry said one of the contributing factors to his team’s success is the “atmosphere” of the team.

“They’re really coming together and are really picking each other up,” he said. “We’re learning to win a little bit, and that’s important when we’re going to be playing Thomasville on Thursday.

“That’s very important,” he said. “They have a very good baseball team, and they always do. It’s an opportunity for us to establish the lead in the area if we can win that first game (against Thomasville). It’s a great opportunity for Andalusia.”

The game will start at 4:30 p.m.
