The Opp Lady Bobcats finished third at the city of Andalusia’s annual Spring Fling softball tournament Saturday at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

The Lady Bobcats fell to Wetumpka in the championship game in the loser’s bracket, 8-2.

During the day, Opp beat Pleasant Home 9-4, won against Florala 12-2, before falling to Dothan 15-0 to enter the loser’s bracket.

In other tournament action, Andalusia beat Charles Henderson 4-1 in its first game of the day. The Lady Bulldogs almost beat Dothan, but fell 2-1 and were later knocked out of the tournament by Wetumpka in the loser’s bracket, losing 6-0.

Straughn fell in its first game to Charles Henderson 9-1, beat Wetumpka 2-1 in the first game of the loser’s bracket, won against Red Level 9-0 and fell to Charles Henderson 6-1 to end its day at the tournament.

Pleasant Home beat Greenville 6-5 in its first game of the day, fell to Opp, beat Red Level 5-4 and fell to Charles Henderson 9-2.

Florala beat Red Level 7-6 in its first game of the day, fell to Opp, and was knocked out of the tournament by Charles Henderson, falling to the Lady Trojans 9-6.

Wetumpka 8, Opp 2

Wetumpka’s Kelsey Hartley struck out three batters, walked two and allowed one run on three hits in four innings to earn the win over Opp Saturday night.

Wetumpka shot out to an early 4-1 lead after the first inning.

In the top of the first inning, the Lady Indians scored four runs on three hits and one walk.

Audrey Powell and Sommer Beaird started the inning with singles to put runners at first and second.

Kendra Orozco walked to load the bases.

The next batter, Tiffany Schultz was hit by a pitch, which scored Powell.

Anna Theriot hit a sacrifice grounder to score Beaird, and Orozco came home on a put out from Morgan Stubbs.

Schultz made it home on an RBI double from Hartley.

Opp scored its first run of the game on an RBI single from Katelyn Mikel to score Laiken Free.

The Lady Indians added one run in the second inning on an RBI single from Beaird to score Kelsi Johnson.

The score remained 5-1 until the fourth inning, when the Lady Indians scored their last three runs on two singles, one double and one walk.

Johnson scored on an RBI double from Beaird, Powell scored on an RBI single from Schultz and Beaird scored on an RBI single from Theriot.

Opp scored its last run in the fifth on an RBI triple from Sydney Jones to score Savannah Gerber.

Wetumpka’s Powell was 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs; Beaird was 3-for-3 with two singles, one double, one RBI and two runs; Orozco was 0-for-3 with two runs; Schultz was 1-for-3 with one single, two RBIs and one run; Theriot was 0-for-3 with one RBI; Stubbs was 1-for-3 with one single and one RBI; and Hartley was 2-for-2 with one single, one double and one RBI.

Opp’s Gerber was 1-for-3 with one single and one run; Free was 0-for-3 with one run; Jones was 3-for-3 with two singles, one triple and one RBI; and Mikel was 1-for-3 with one single and one RBI.

Andalusia 4, Charles Henderson 1

Andalusia scored its four runs in the second inning to come out with the win over the Lady Trojans in its first game of the day Saturday.

Charles Henderson scored its only run in the first inning.

Andalusia’s Paige Caraway struck out nine batters.

Dothan 2, Andalusia 1

Caraway struck out 10 batters in her team’s loss.

Dothan scored one run in the first and sixth innings to get the win over the Lady Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.

Wetumpka 6, Andalusia 0

The Lady Indians scored one run in the first inning, two runs in the second, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to knock the Lady Bulldogs out of the tournament.
