Lady Tigers beat Bulldogs

The Straughn Lady Tigers beat Andalusia Tuesday night at home 3-1.

In the first inning, Straughn’s Stephanie Bracewell walked, stole second and then moved to third base off of a sacrifice fly out from Tiffany Taylor.

Katy Messick then singled Bracewell in to take a 1-0 lead.

Bracewell hit a triple in the third inning and Kaitlynn Wiggins sacrifice bunted Bracewell in to score.

Straughn added its last run in the sixth inning as Megan Johns hit an RBI single to score Messick.

Andalusia scored one run in the fifth inning when Kenna Edmondson scored on a fielder’s choice by Paige Caraway.

Winning pitcher Kaitlynn Wiggins allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. She struck out 10 and walked two.

The Lady Tigers improve to 19-9-1 on the season and will play Thursday in Pool A at the Pleasant Home softball tournament.

Straughn will start at 4:30 p.m. against Pleasant Home and will play Flomaton at 5:30.

Tuesday at the Relay for Life doubleheader against Florala, the Lady Tigers won 13-1 in five innings in the first game and 16-0 in three innings in the second game.
