Andalusia kept Clarke County from winning the Class 4A, Area 3 title Friday night in a 9-3 win at home.

Bulldogs’ pitcher C.P. Rogers pitched a complete game only giving up three runs. He earned the win for Andalusia.

In the first inning, Andalusia scored one run on a sacrifice fly from Dilan Manring.

The Bulldogs added two in the second inning on two hits, one of which came on an RBI from Zack Ward.

Andalusia added four runs in the third on three hits and two errors.

In the sixth, the Bulldogs scored two on one hit and one error.

Ward was 3-for-4 with two doubles, one single and two RBIs.

“I was proud of the boys,” Andalusia coach Jonathan Rasberry said. “They showed a lot of character. The game was big for Clarke County because if they lose, then they come in second.

“They weren’t holding anything back,” he said. “I thought we played very well.”

Rasberry said he had hoped the team won Thursday night because they would be in the playoffs.

“That’s how baseball is,” he said. “I’m really proud of the kids and they did a great job coming back from a tough loss.”

The Bulldogs host Opp Monday at 4 p.m. for senior night.
