Lady Bulldogs finish 3rd at Elba tourney

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs finished third at Elba’s annual softball tournament Saturday.

Andalusia lost to first-ranked Kinston 10-0; beat Cottonwood 7-3; beat Elba 2-0; and lost to Kinston 4-1 in nine innings.

Andalusia 7, Cottonwood 3

The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the second inning when Emily Terry hit an RBI double to score Sam Greene.

Terry later scored on a passed ball in the same inning.

In the third inning, Andalusia added three runs when Kenna Edmondson scored on an RBI from Terry; Paige Caraway scored on an RBI from Andi Hughes; and Greene scored the final run on an error.

Elli Pollock and Edmondson scored the final two runs for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth inning.

Winning pitcher Caraway had five strikeouts, and Abbie Young struck out two.

Andalusia 2, Elba 0

Winning pitcher Caraway struck out 12 batters on her way to help lead her team to a 2-0 win over Elba.

The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the sixth inning off a two-run double from Young.

Kinston 4, Andalusia 1

The game remained scoreless until the seventh inning when Kinston scored one run. Andalusia came back to tie the game up in the same inning to force the international tie-breaker rule to be used.

Kinston scored three runs in the ninth inning on a three-run double.

Andalusia will travel to play Pleasant Home today at 4 p.m.
