Temperature break on way

Locals could soon be getting a small break from the oppressive heat covering Alabama.

Tuesday, as temperatures climbed nearly to the 100-degree mark, forecasters were predicting some cooling in the afternoons as scattered thunderstorms hit the area.

Today, the high is expected at 93 degrees, with a 50 percent chance of rain in the afternoon.

Thursday through the weekend, the county should see temperatures in the low-90s as the chance of scattered thunderstorms dwindles.

Next week, it’s predicted temperatures will shoot back up and the chance of rain all but disappears.
