A minor traffic stop by the Andalusia Police Department Wednesday led to the apprehension of a Jackson County escapee.
APD officer Scott Watkins observed a vehicle running a stop sign near Opp Avenue, said Sgt. Mike Hayden.
“When Officer Watkins approached the vehicle, he noticed the driver – Daniel Schluter, 28, – acting very nervous,” Hayden said. “When he ran the driver’s information, it came back with notification that Mr. Schluter was wanted for second-degree escape out of Jackson County.”
Jackson County authorities said Schluter was arrested on March 15, 2010, for failure to appear on a bad check charge, misdemeanor assault and probation revocation. Schluter was released to community corrections, but “disappeared at that point.”
By Thursday, Jackson County sheriff’s deputies had traveled to Andalusia to extradite Schluter back to Scottsboro.
