Covington Water Authority customers will have a new payment drop-off spot, effective Sept. 7.

Debra Bennett, CWA manager, said the office, which is currently located in the Covington County administration building on Hillcrest Drive, will move to a 5.5 acre parcel on Tracks Lane, off Sanford Road in Andalusia.

Bennett said the CWA purchased the property on March 26 to facilitate “possible future growth.”

“CWA currently serves 4,190 customers throughout the county, maintaining six water wells and 730 miles of water mains,” Bennett said. “We strive to provide a dependable and safe supply of water to all consumers.”

Included in those numbers are the pubic utility water systems in Carolina and Libertyville.

Phone number to the office – 334-428-2656 – will remain the same, Bennett said.

“Our Hillcrest Drive office will be open until 5 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 2,” she said. “The office will be closed the following Friday and Monday (to move), but we will open at our new location, 22420 Tracks Lane, at 8 a.m. on Tues., Sept. 7.”

Directions to the new office are:

• From Highway 84 (bypass) in Andalusia: Turn onto Three Notch Street going toward the square. Take a left onto Sanford Road, cross the railroad tracks and turn left onto the street across from Sam Carroll Memorials. Follow this road and the office building is on the right, with a large metal warehouse and chain link fence.

• From Highway 55 South coming into Andalusia: Turn right onto Three Notch Street going toward U.S. Hwy. 84 and Hwy. 29 North. Turn right at the next traffic light, which is Sanford Road. Cross the railroad tracks and immediately turn left onto the street across from Sam Carroll Memorials. Follow this road and the office building is on the right, with a large metal warehouse and chain link fence.
