Lady Tigers rally in 3-2 win

Trailing 2-1 Thursday night on the road against Zion Chapel, the Straughn Lady Tigers rallied and won the fourth and fifth games to win 3-2.

“It was a very exciting match,” SHS coach Lori Kinsaul. “Zion Chapel has a very good squad. I was proud of how the girls battled when they were down.”

The Lady Tigers won the match 25-17, 24-26, 14-25, 25-19, 15-13.

To seal the win, Straughn’s Katie Beck served an ace for the 15th point of the final game.

“Everyone played hard, and came together to pull out a win,” Kinsaul said

Straughn’s Brooke Harris contributed in the win hitting nine aces and four kills; Megan Johns had eight aces and three blocks; Holley McGlaun led in assists with 26; and Kaitlynn Wiggins had 13 kills.

Straughn’s next match will be in Andalusia next Thurs., Sept. 9 after the junior varsity match at 4 p.m.
