PHS boys, girls win

Pleasant Home’s boys and girls varsity basketball teams swept Geneva County at home in area action on Tuesday night.

The boys won 33-30, and the girls won 35-26.

Both teams are the No. 2 seed going into the Class 1A, Area 2 tournament next month. The girls start on Thurs., Feb. 11, and the boys the day after.

The Lady Eagles will play Geneva County at Florala, and the boys will play Geneva County at Kinston.

Straughn boys fall, girls win at Ashford

Straughn’s boys fell in a close contest 60-54 against Ashford on the road.

Austin Pickrel led the Tigers with 29 points, and Avery Driver added 11 points.

The girls won 34-31 over the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Tiffany Taylor led the Lady Tigers with 16 points.

In B-team action, Straughn lost 34-14.

Brice Scott had six points.

Red Level falls to Elba

The Red Level Tigers lost 47-36 to Elba in area action.

Nick Dorsey led Red Level with 12 points. Preston Ryce and K.J. Lawrence scored eight points each.

Elba led 17-11 after the first period, 25-16 at half time and 37-26 at the end of the third period.

Laurel Hill sweeps Florala

All three of Florala’s basketball teams lost on the road in Laurel Hill on Tuesday night.

The varsity boys fell 70-46; the girls lost 55-38; and the B-team lost 42-31.

J.B. Burleson led the varsity boys with 15 points, and Hunter Oswald and Lavoris Ball had nine points each.

Paige Irwin led the girls with 18 points.

Brian Jordan led the B-team with nine points.

Opp wins over Kinston

Opp High School’s boys team beat Kinston 42-38 Tuesday night.

The B-team also won, 29-19.
