Brantley’s Eisha Person scored 34 points against Opp Monday night, but that wasn’t enough in the Lady Bobcats’ 71-61 victory over the Lady Bulldogs in Opp.

“She was hot,” Opp girls coach Allison Gregory said about Person’s game Monday night. “She got hot, and didn’t miss much.”

Despite Person’s great night, Gregory said her girls played exceptionally well, given the adversity they faced at the start of the second half, where her team trailed 33-28.

“I was really impressed with the way we played,” she said. “We came out strong (in the second half) with a lot of intensity and they executed the game plan perfectly.

“We tried to limit their put backs, and keep them off the boards,” she said.

The Lady Bobcats then outscored Brantley 27-11 in the third period.

“They had a lot of poise and character, and got right back in the game,” Gregory said about the third period. “They did a good job of taking care of the basketball toward the end, and found a way to win.”

Soyia Folmar led the Lady Bobcats with 21 points. Laiken Free had 19 points, and Nisha Stoudemire contributed with 13 points.

The Lady Bobcats (20-5) will play Luverne Thursday in the first round of the Class 3A, Area 2 tournament in Geneva.
