Andalusia’s boys and girls tennis teams opened their 2011 season Tuesday with wins over rival Opp.

The boys beat Opp 9-0 in singles and doubles matches, while the girls won 7-2.

Andalusia boys 9, Opp boys 0

In singles action, Andalusia’s Alex Evans defeated Opp’s David Brogden 8-2; Chris Smith defeated Kris Hardy 8-2; Mayur Patel defeated Nick Hampton 8-1; Jackson Moore defeated Zack Blue 8-1; Jonathan Wiggins defeated Heath Barton 8-1; and Josh Doster defeated Jessie Grimes 8-2.

In doubles action, Evans and Smith beat Brogden and Hampton 8-4; Patel and Moore beat Blue and Hardy 8-0; and Wiggins and Doster beat Barton and Grimes 8-0.

In singles action, Andalusia’s Aubrey Boyington defeated Korrie Lynn James 8-6; Opp’s Rissa Wamsley defeated Anna Bay McCord 8-4; Lauren Beasley defeated Haley Lowe 8-2; Maggie Jones defeated Megan Foley 8-5; Jennifer Botta defeated Regan Fleming 8-1; and Meredith Tillman defeated Samantha Bennett 8-1.

In doubles action, Boyington and McCord lost to James and Wamsley; Jones and Tillman beat Foley and Fleming; and Beasley and Susie Watson beat Lowe and Bennett.

Andalusia will travel to play in the Dothan Shootout this Friday and Saturday.
