Pleasant Home High School will hold its annual fast pitch softball tournament Saturday at PHS.

The Lady Eagles will play host to a five-team double elimination format tournament in one day.

“Saturday, we have a pretty good little tournament going on,” PHS head softball coach Bradley Stephens said. “I feel pretty good going into it. We’re going to have a few girls out (because of spring break).”

Andalusia, Straughn, Opp, Florala and Pleasant Home are the teams in the tournament.

The first game is slated for 8 a.m. between Pleasant Home and Florala. Andalusia and Opp will play each other at 9:30 a.m. in the second game of the day. The third game will be between the winner of Game 2 and Straughn at 11 a.m.

The admission to the tournament is $5 per person, and the Lady Eagles will be selling fish plates for $6 each, which includes hush puppies, fries and a drink.

Stephens said a goal for the team in all double elimination tournaments is to get the first game win.

“We’re trying to — as far as a team — we’re trying to start a new trend for us to get ready for regionals and the state progam with one goal — to win the first game of the tournament.

“We’re just looking forward to it,” he added. “We had a solid day of practice (Thursday), and (Wednesday). We’re looking forward to getting it rolling.”

The losers of the first three games will drop down to the losers bracket of the tournament, which begins its play at 12:30 p.m.

The semifinals are at 3:30 p.m., and the losers bracket title game will be at 5 p.m.

The championship is slated for 6:30 p.m., and an 8 p.m. game will be played if the losers bracket champion beats the winners bracket champion in the first game of the tournament finals.
