Opp comes back from deficit, beats Geneva

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Opp’s Lady Bobcats scored four runs to take the go-ahead lead, and held on late to beat Geneva 5-3 on senior night.
“It was a good ball game,” OHS head softball coach Jimmy Reeves said. “We had that one big inning.”
Opp’s Anna Harrelson started the fourth inning with a walk, and Sydney Jones, Courtney Mobley and Bailey Croft hit one single each. Croft’s single scored Jones and Mobley. Harrelson was caught out on the bases.
Then, Savannah Gerber hit an RBI single to score Croft to tie the game up.
The Lady Bobcats took a 4-3 lead on an RBI single from Octavia Thompson that scored Gerber.
Jones got the win on the mound for the Lady Bobcats. She struck out three and allowed three runs on eight hits.
Thompson and Jones had two hits each for the Lady Bobcats.
“That was a big win for my girls,” Reeves said.
Before game time Croft, Jones, Mobley and Hailey Norris were honored at a senior ceremony.
