Chase Hopkins pitched a complete game 1-hitter to help lead the Pirates to a 4-3 victory over the D’Backs Tuesday night in the 12-and-under end-of-the-year single elimination tournament at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, the Pirates scored two runs to tie the game, and took a 4-2 in the fourth.

The D’Backs scored their first two runs in the first and second innings on passed balls.

In the sixth inning, the D’Backs scored their third run.

The Pirates will face the Yankees (Straughn) next Mon., May 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.

Hopkins struck out 15 batters in the win over the D’Backs.

Daniel Shirey was 1-for-2; B.J. Anderson was 2-for-3; Hopkins was 1-for-3; Will Clark was 1-for-3; Will Jones was 2-for-3; and Clayton Stephens was 1-for-3 for the Pirates.

Riley Graham was 1-for-1 for the D’Backs.
