Florala High School principal Donny Powell said he hopes to have a “candidate” soon to fill the vacant head football coaching position at the school.
“Right now, we’re interviewing people,” Powell said by telephone. “We started doing that this week, and will go through next week.
“We hope to, by the end of next week, put a candidate before the board the following week,” he said.
Powell said he has interviewed “at least” 10 applicants from all over the state.
“I’ve had some real good candidates this year,” he said. “We hope we can get someone in place soon so he can get started working with our athletes this summer.
“We’re just trying to make sure we get the right person,” he said.
The Star-News will continue to update on the coaching situation at FHS when information becomes available.
