Angie Grimes knows exactly what she’s looking for when it comes to filling needed positions on Andalusia’s volleyball teams.

Today marks the last day of a volleyball camp at AHS, where approximately 30 girls from AMS, the junior varsity and varsity squads received collegiate instruction on the mechanics of the sport, Grimes said.

“They get a lot of instruction in these three days,” she said .”They’ve heard this over and over again. The technique part of this sport is so important.”

The collegiate instruction comes from volleyball players who are on Middle Tennessee State University’s team.

Grimes said the girls worked on hitting techniques on Monday, passing on Tuesday and will transition to more of a game-like situation on their last day (today) of the camp.

In the end, Grimes said the three-day camp provides a means to find players that will contribute to the volleyball team this fall.

“With this camp, I can really start looking at putting the right girls in the right positions,” she said.
