12U weekend wrap

In 12-and-under All-Stars baseball action, South Alabama finished the weekend series in East Brewton 1-1.

Andalusia beat Covington County 5-2 in its first game of the district tournament, and then in its second game, fell to Brewton 26-6 to fall to the loser’s bracket.

Opp eliminated Covington County 4-0 Saturday night and East Brewton eliminated Opp 4-2 on Sunday.

South Alabama 5, Covington County 2

Covington County shot out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but South Alabama answered with three runs in the bottom half.

South Alabama’s Madison Ward pitched a complete game for the Andalusia All-Stars, allowing two runs on five hits.

South Alabama added two runs in the fourth inning to advance in the tournament.

B.J. Anderson was 3-for-3 with two runs; and Riley Graham was 1-for-2 with two runs for South Alabama.

Covington County’s Jacob Hawkins was 1-for-2 with one run; and Cory Matrullo was 1-for-3 with one run.
