Opp 9-10 girls weekend wrap

Opp’s 9-to-10-year-old softball All-Stars finished 1-2 at the district tournament this past weekend at the sports complex in Opp.

The Lady Bobcats came out swinging in a 13-5 first-game win over Crenshaw County Saturday night. In the night cap, the Lady Bobcats faced a tough Greenville team and fell 8-2.

On Sunday, Opp faced Crenshaw County again and fell 11-8.

Opp 13,

Crenshaw County 5

Crenshaw County took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Opp tied the game in the second inning, and went on to score six runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to get the win.

Loryn Praytor, Tyler Jaynes, Haleigh Brundidge, Abby Glass and McKenzie Chambley scored two runs each for the Lady Bobcats.

Maggie Short, Josie Vann and Jada Bess added one run each for Opp.

For Crenshaw County, Laina Wells, Passion Person and Leanna Johnson scored for their team. Wells scored one run, and Person and Johnson had two runs each.

Greenville 8, Opp 2

Greenville scored four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to get the six-run win over the Lady Bobcats Saturday night.

Greenville’s Lara Beth Blackmon and Alex Little scored two runs each; and Kayla Motley, Anna Langford, Shelby Vickery and Haley Ballard scored one run each.

Opp scored one run in the third inning and one run in the fifth inning.

Cassadi Adams and Laura Short scored for the Lady Bobcats.

Crenshaw County 11, Opp 8

Crenshaw County scored seven runs in the second inning, and Lainey Wells, Person and Grace Grosenbach scored two runs each.

Wells and Person scored one run each in the first and second innings, and Grosenbach scored one run each in the second and third innings.

The Lady Bobcats scored two runs in the second inning, three runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning.

In other action at the 9-to-10-year-old tournament, Greenville beat Zion Chapel 8-7; and Crenshaw County beat Zion Chapel 10-5.
