Opp hit a double-whammy this past weekend in Elba, as its 13-year-old and 13-to-15-year-old All-Stars won both tournaments in Babe Ruth action.

The 13-year-olds beat Elba in a best two-out-of-three series tournament, winning in the final two games 13-3, 18-3.

In the 13-to-15-year-old tournament, Opp beat Covington County 21-7; and Ariton in the finals 11-4, 8-5.

Covington County beat Kinston 4-3 to get its only win of the tournament.

13-year-old tournament

Opp 18, Elba 3

Opp’s Brit Buckelew had three hits and three runs; Walker Messer had four hits and two runs; and Collin Holloway had five hits and five runs.

13-to-15-year-old

Opp 8, Ariton 5

Opp’s Brady Vidich had one hit and two runs; Holt Hall had one hit and two runs; and Chris Weaks had three hits.

Covington County 4, Kinston 3

Johnny Owens hit a walk-off RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to help lead Covington County to the one-run win.

Brennan Head had one hit and two runs; and Hunter Odom had one hit and one run to also lead Covington County.
