County 16-18s beat Wetumpka

Covington County’s 16-to-18-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars beat Wetumpka 11-1 tonight in five innings in the state tournament at Andalusia High School.
Covington County scored one run in the first inning, four runs in the second, five runs in the third and one run in the fourth.
Wetumpka scored its only run in the fifth inning.
Robert Woodall was 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs; Colter Poole was 1-for-2 with a double; Dilan Manring was 2-for-4; Zac Fleming scored one run and reached twice on errors; Zack Stinson had two singles and two runs; Andrew Burleson was 1-for-3 with two runs; Rob Maddox was 2-for-2 with one run; and BB Benton was 2-for-2 with two runs for Covington County.
Stinson threw five innings, struck out five and allowed one run on six hits to earn the win on the mound.
In earlier action today, Tallassee 1 beat Brewton 12-1, and Mobile County beat Etowah County 11-0. Luverne forfeit its game against Tallassee 2, and drops down to the loser’s bracket.
Covington County plays Tallassee 2 tomorrow night at 7, and Mobile County will play Tallassee 1 tomorrow at 4 p.m.
