South Alabama finishes 3rd at World Series

ANDALUSIA — Lodi, Calif. beat host team South Alabama 5-2 in extra innings today to claim a spot in the 2011 Babe Ruth 12U Softball World Series championship.

Lodi took an early 2-0 lead, but South Alabama came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The game went into extra innings, South Alabama had an opportunity to score in the bottom of the seventh with bases loaded an no outs, but couldn’t convert.

The host team will take the third place trophy.
