Duo excel at karate tourney

Seth Dooley and Taj Patel, two karate students from Andalusia Isshinryu, competed in the 24th annual Sunshine Classic Open Karate Tournament held in Panama City Beach, Fla., Aug. 13.
The tournament is sanctioned by the World Yoshukai Karate Kobudo Organization and and seven different styles of martial arts were represented.
“Taj and Seth both displayed excellent sportsmanship and a good attitude and represented our school well,” Andalusia Isshinryu karate instructor Mark Rudd said. “This tradition is important to our students, and is a matter of pride to carry on the respect and winning tradition that past students have established.”
Dooley finished in first place in fighting and fourth place in kata in the white/yellow belt division for his age group.
Patel finished in third place in fighting and second place in kata in the white/yellow belt division for his age group.
