Wildcats to face Samson

Florala head football coach Justin Jones wasn’t necessarily excited about how the Wildcats played last Friday night in their jamboree game against New Brockton and St. Luke’s Episcopal.
Instead, Jones said he was “proud” of the way the players played with it being his first time seeing them in action.
Florala lost to St. Luke’s and New Brockton 7-6 in both games.
Two highlights that came from the jamboree games for Jones were successful drives on offense and defense.
“We had a 75-yard, 11-play drive against New Brockton that lasted the whole first quarter,” Jones said. “The other thing I was that we had two three and outs and had a man cause a turnover, and we recovered the fumble.”
Jones said there are still a lot of things to correct this week as the Wildcats will travel to play Samson this Friday night in their season-opener.
“We (FHS coaches) were proud of them, but we weren’t pleased (after the jamboree game),” he said. “I know Samson is going to be a high-quality opponent. They play a physical brand of football.
“We look forward to the challenge,” he said.
Kick off in Samson is at 7 p.m.
