Eagles get road loss to Rebels

Pleasant Home lost to Zion Chapel 43-21 in its season-opener Friday night.

The Eagles went into the game not surprised at what the Rebels were going to throw at them, head coach Ronnie Douglas said.

“(The Rebels) were pretty solid up front,” Douglas said. “They’re a good football team.

“We fumbled the ball three times, and the turnovers basically were what messed us up tonight,” he said.

Pleasant Home scored all three of its touchdowns on passes from senior quarter Gabe Gunter.

John Newby had two touchdown receptions, and Hunter Weaver had one touchdown reception for the Eagles.

Kaleb Powell handled the extra points for the Eagles.

Douglas said the team had a few problems with “cramping,” but they’ll work to get better.

“The cramp thing did us in tonight,” he said. “It got us with a full game, and it was pretty bad. We’ll get better, and we’ll keep working them and get in better shape.”

Pleasant Home will kick off its region play against McKenzie next Friday night at home.
