Straughn’s Megan Johns had six kills, and the Lady Tigers swept Enterprise 3-0 Monday night at SHS.

The Lady Tigers won the first game easily 25-11, allowed eight points in the second game to win 25-8 and won the third, barely, 25-23.

Straughn trailed 19-22 late in the third game when a substitution violation by the Lady Wildcats started a 4-0 run in favor of the Lady Tigers.

“The sub infraction really helped us out a lot,” SHS volleyball coach Marc Tracy said. “If it wasn’t for that, we might’ve lost the game. That changed the momentum.”

Johns hit a kill over the net to set the run in motion, and at match point, blocked for the final point.

Courtney Fussell served for the match in the final points for the Lady Tigers. Fussell had 14 service points and three aces, and Emily Hammett had six assists and 11 service points.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Ashford today for their first area tri-match against Headland and the Lady Yellow Jackets.

“It was nice to have a win like this to go into the game (today),” Tracy said.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Tigers beat Enterprise 2-0.

Straughn won the first game 25-11, and the second game 25-6.
