The Florala Wildcats’ main focus this week is solely on themselves, head football coach Justin Jones said.

“At this point, I’m not worried about who we play, or who we’re going to play,” Jones said. “Our focus is us.”

The Wildcats will travel to play Class 1A powerhouse Brantley in region action this Friday night.

Florala carry’s with it an 0-2 overall record, and an 0-1 record in their region.

The Wildcats lost to Georgiana 42-20 last week in a penalty-ridden game to begin region action.

“Brantley’s a very high-quality football team. There’s no doubt about it,” Jones said. “Our concerns are us. We’re taking it one day at a time, and are trying to make it better.

“If we’ll continue to do that, then we’ll continue to do better,” he said. “That’s what we’re going to do for the rest of the year, is to get Florala better.”

Jones said the Bulldogs are well-coached with David Lowery at the helm of the program.

“They do things right,” he said. “They play hard. Everybody in America knows they’re a good football team. I look forward to seeing where we stand against them.”

To get “better” this season, Jones said it will take a lot of hard work.

“We want to get better in every phase of the game,” he said. “All I know how to do that is to work hard at practice.”

Kick off in Brantley is at 7 p.m.
