Florala’s Wildcats couldn’t move the ball against Class 1A powerhouse Brantley Friday night, and suffered a 47-7 region loss.

The Wildcats, so far this season, are the only team that has scored against the Bulldogs from Crenshaw County.

Red Level fell to the Bulldogs 62-0 in week one.

“We didn’t move the football at all,” FHS head football coach Justin Jones said. “I’m very disappointed in that. But, for the most part, our defense gave up two of Brantley’s touchdowns on returns.”

At the end of the first quarter, Brantley led 42-0.

“We were in the ball game at times,” Jones said.

Florala’s only score came on a 65-yard rush from Desmond Smiley, a sophomore tail back.

“He just broke loose, and was gone,” Jones said about Smiley. “We’ve got to keep working, and keep becoming more tougher and play hard for four quarters.

“We’re going to come back on Monday with smiles on our faces and get ready for Pleasant Home,” he said.
