Pleasant Home almost got a three-team sweep over Opp Tuesday night, but the Lady Bobcats came back after losing the first game to win 3-1.

The Lady Bobcats ended up winning the next three games 25-22, 25-14, 25-21 after the first-game 20-25 loss.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Eagles won 25-17, 17-25, 15-11, and in junior high action, Pleasant Home won 25-23, 25-17.

“Pleasant Home did a lot of tipping and got the ball over real quick,” OHS volleyball coach Christie Spurlin said. “The next three games, we figured out what we needed to do.”

The Lady Bobcats improve to 5-6 overall on the season.

PHS volleyball coach Jerry Davis said the varsity match was a good back-and-forth match from both teams.

“I think we might have surprised them in the first game,” Davis said. “We had them down the second game, and they made a heck of come back. It was a great match to watch.

“We had good defense both ways,” he said. “When we got down, we just kind of hung our heads. It was the first time we played in a good match in two weeks now. It was really beneficial for us.”

Davis said one piece of good news is that he thinks the girls haven’t “peaked” yet.

“That’s a good thing,” he said about not peaking. “We’ve still got a ways to go, and I think we’ll do better.

“It hurt the girls,” he said about the loss to Opp. “And that’s a good thing, too. We’re all right. We’ll regroup and go again.”

Opp will play host to Pike County and Luverne today at 4 p.m. for an area tri-match. Pleasant Home travels to play T.R. Miller in Brewton.
