Opp senior quarterback T.J. Register connected on three touchdown passes to help lead the Bobcats to a 33-12 region victory over Geneva Friday night.

The Bobcats held leads of 20-0 at half time, and 33-0 at the end of the third quarter.

OHS head football coach Jack Whigham said he thought the team played “hard at times.”

“That was good,” Whigham said.

Opp took advantage of some early Geneva turnovers and capitalized on them during the game.

Register hit senior receiver Hunter Roeser on a 14-yard pass in the first quarter, and then Russell Moseley caught a 75-yard pass in the second quarter to give Opp a two-touchdown lead. Senior Dane Buckelew caught the two-point conversion and the Bobcats led 14-0.

Opp got the game to 20-0 on a 1-yard run from Myeke Boyd with 4:18 remaining in the first half.

The Bobcats had 327 yards on offense, and Geneva had 261.

Register was 5-of-11 for 133 yards and the three touchdowns.

Opp added two touchdowns in the third quarter on a 20-yard pass from Register to senior Trey Short, and senior running back Devin Davis scored on a 7-yard dash with 5:30 remaining in the quarter.

Geneva scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Whigham said Register threw the ball well, and the team did a good job of mixing it up early.

“We thought we could throw it some,” he said. “We had determined that we were going to have a good mixture early on and it worked out for us.”

Opp will play host to Straughn next week in regular season action.
