Florala scored a game-high 35 points against J.U. Blacksher Friday night, but the Bulldogs beat the Wildcats by one touchdown at 42-35 at Matthews Field at FHS.

“We had our opportunities again, but we just didn’t capitalize,” FHS head football coach Justin Jones said. “We’re getting better in spots.”

Florala scored one touchdown on a reverse pass play and on a return. The rest of the touchdowns came on drives, Jones said.

“We’ve got to continue to get better and learn how to play hard for four quarters,” he said. “When we get there, we’ll be where we need to be.”

The Wildcats will have an open week next week, and will see action at home on Oct. 7 against Geneva County in region play.

“We had some guys that stepped up (Friday night) and played well,” Jones said. “I feel like we can move forward from here.

“We’ve got a week to get better, which is what we need,” he said. “We’re going to attack these next three region games and get after it.”
