On Saturday, four local volleyball teams will vie for a spot to play in the sub-state tournament next week as each will take part in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s regional tournament.

Andalusia will play host to St. James, UMS-Wright, W.S. Neal, Saraland, Alabama Christian, Monroe County and rival Straughn in the Class 4A, Regional A tournament at AHS.

The Lady Bulldogs will play W.S. Neal at 10 a.m. in the quarterfinals, and Straughn will face Monroe County at 11:15 a.m.

Opp will travel to play in the Class 3A, Regional A tournament at Montgomery Academy.

The Lady Bobcats will face Daleville in the quarterfinals at 11:15 a.m. Other teams in Opp’s regional tournament include Trinity Presbyterian, Bayside Academy, Geneva, Abbeville, T.R. Miller and host Montgomery Academy.

Pleasant Home will travel to Tuscaloosa at Holy Spirit Catholic High School in the Class 1A, Regional A tournament.

The Lady Eagles take on Sweet Water at 10 a.m. in the quarterfinals.

The top four finishers in each regional tournament will advance to play in the sub-state tournament, which will be next Thurs., Oct. 20. AHSAA’s Elite 8 state tournament is Oct. 26-27, at the Pelham Civic Complex.
