Andalusia, Straughn and Opp’s golf teams will hit the road on Monday for their perspective sectional tournaments.

Each golf team plays in a sectional tournament to qualify for the sub-state round, which will take place on May 7.

The state tournament is May 14-15 in Opelika.

Andalusia and Straughn will compete in the Class 4A section at Lagoon Park, while Opp will play in the Class 3A sectional at Arrowhead. Both courses are in Montgomery, and have a par of 72.

“If we go up there and play consistent and play like we’re capable of playing, then we’ll be OK,” AHS coach Marshall Locke said.

Locke said the Lagoon course plays “tight,” and hitting good drives off the tee is essential.

“It’s not a very long course, which makes the tee shot important,” he said.

Locke said a team goal is to shoot about a 315 or lower at the tournament on Monday.
