Meredith’s fish fry is tonight

Feed yourself and help a deserving family tonight at the Meredith’s Miracle’s fish fry.
Emily Yehling, MM executive director, said the annual fundraiser will be held from 5 until 7 tonight at the Southside Baptist Church learning center.
“You know you don’t have time to go home and cook before the game, so come on by,” Yehling said. “The fish, which were swimming on Thursday, will be hot and ready.”
The menu for tonight’s fundraiser is catfish, cheese grits, French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, dessert and a drink.
The group will also host its traditional bake sale and contributions will be taken until 3 p.m., she said.
“The goal of Meredith’s Miracles is to help families who have to leave this area to receive sub-specialty care that is not available locally with their non-medical related expenses,” Yehling said. “These expenses can be anything from food, car rentals, gas or lodging expenses. All of the money raised from Meredith’s Miracles events goes directly back to the community. We cover a 60-mile radius of Andalusia.
“So when you buy a plate, you’re helping those who desperately need it,” she said.
Yehling said the local non-profit assisted 167 families in 2011 and distributed $57,000.
“That’s why we fundraise,” she said. “We can’t thank the community enough for stepping up to the plate every time we ask them to.”
Plates are $8 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the Meredith’s Miracle’s thrift shop, Harold’s Furniture, Covington Pediatrics or at the door.
Take-out orders are also available.
