T he air Saturday was filled with show tunes and crowd pleasers as some 15 bands participated in this year’s A-Town Invitation.

First to take the field was Red Level High School with their musical presentation, “The Story of Joe.” Red Level received all superior ratings, while drum major Connor Cooper received “best in class” for her performance.

Other local high school bands participating included Florala, Opp and Straughn.

Straughn’s band earned superior ratings across the board, and drum major Kurt Grimes earned a “best in class” rating.

Florala’s “The Marching Pride” earned two “1s,” and the majorettes and drum line earned a “best in class” honor.

This year marked the eighth annual event sponsored by Andalusia High School’s “A Sound Tradition” marching band and the AHS Band Boosters.
