Saints swept at home

LBWCC fell 3-1, 6-4 to Faulkner State in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

The Saints came into the twin bill riding a five-game win streak.

FSCC built a 1-0 lead in the third inning of game one, but LBWCC came back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up on an RBI single from Ryan Barnes.

Trey Chambers scored the tying run with two outs for the home-town Saints.

The Sun Chiefs scored one run each in the sixth and seventh, and held LBWCC scoreless the rest of the way for the first-game win.

Sean Cramer threw three good innings to start the first game for the Saints. He allowed seven hits, one earned run and struck out three.

With the bases loaded in the top of the second, the Sun Chiefs threatened to score with no outs.

Cramer got a pop up, a batter caught looking and a force out at home on a third strike swing to get out of the second inning.

The starting pitcher’s second jam came in the third with two outs.

The freshman from Tampa, Fla., battled back from a 3-0 count and struck the batter out looking.

Barnes went 2-for-3 and drove in a run to lead the Saints.

FSCC built a 5-0 lead in the fourth and LBWCC cut the game to one run in the same frame, but the Saints were held scoreless for the final three innings to take the loss.

Brandon Pugh went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead LBWCC. Trevor Maxey chipped in two hits on four plate appearances with one RBI to pace the Saints.

Chambers went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The Saints will be back in action today at home against Mineral Area College. First pitch is slated for 1:30 p.m.
