Enloe pitches Emeralds to win Wednesday

The Boise Hawks thought they had Eugene Emeralds’ relief pitcher Jeffery Enloe on the ropes Wednesday night.

The former LBWCC Saint allowed two consecutive singles to the Hawks, but dialed in afterward to get three straight outs — two of which were strikeouts — to earn the win in the Em’s 5-1 victory over the Hawks.

Jim Gabella, Enloe’s manager and coach, told The Register-Guard that he did well to get out of the jam.

“It’s a great job by Jeffery to pitch out of that,” Gabella said. “He made pitches when he had to. You have to do that to be effective. When you have guys on base and in scoring position, you have to make your pitches and that’s what he did.”

This was the Eugene Emeralds’ first win of the Class A short-season’s second half.
