Jo’s Community Dinners set for Christmas Day

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, in cooperation with other churches, supporters and volunteers, will again provide a free meal to anyone who needs it or is alone this Christmas Day.

Jan Morris, who organizes the project, said volunteers fed 365 people on Thanksgiving. Traditionally, she said, fewer people need or want meals on Christmas.

Morris said those who need meals may dine-in, carry out or have the food delivered to them.

Meals will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parish hall. The only stipulation is that those who need their meals delivered call by noon on Christmas Eve. To schedule delivery, call 222-2487.

The holiday dinners served at Thanksgiving and Christmas were originally called ACORN dinners and organized by Josephine Mosdell. After her death, they were renamed Jo’s Community Dinners in her honor.

Morris said anyone who wants to volunteer is welcome.
