Saints top ASCC, 76-63

Three Saints finished in double figures as LBWCC beat Alabama Southern 76-63 in conference basketball action Thursday night.

Starters Troyce Manassa and Victor Benson, along with bench player Malcolm Snyder led the Saints in the win.

Manassa scored 22 points on a night where he dominated the paint early; Benson chipped in 19 points; and Snyder had 15.

The Saints took an early 16-10 lead in the first half and translated it into a 43-35 advantage at halftime.

On the glass, Snyder grabbed six rebounds and added four assists for the Saints. Janard Estell, De’Aundre Smith and Gaetan Sarrazin had three assists each.

A big portion of the Saints’ offense came from the foul line, where they went 16-for-21 (76.2 percent).

Alabama Southern’s Charlie Wilson and Maurice Pittman scored 19 and 18, respectively.

With this win, LBWCC improves to 9-10 overall, and 5-2 in the ACCC South. The Saints will be back in conference action on Monday at Faulkner State Community College (14-9, 5-2) in Bay Minette.

In women’s action, the Lady Saints suffered a 58-40 loss to ASCC to start the night.

Robin Rush led LBWCC with 12 points; Brittany Moore chipped in 10 points; Kamiaya Nalls and Destyni Thomas had six rebounds each.

ASCC’s Jasmine McCants led with 17 points; and Lakeisha Pickens and Shannon Watts chipped in 10 points each.

ASCC led 24-15 at halftime.
