LBWCC sweeps Bishop State

LBWCC got its conference play off to a good start Tuesday in a doubleheader sweep over Bishop State at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

The Saints won the first game 8-1, and then topped BSCC in the second game, 4-3.

With the sweep, LBWCC improves to 9-5 overall, and 2-0 in ACCC South. The Saints will be back in action tomorrow against Faulkner University’s JV squad.

LBWCC 4, Bishop State 3

Brandon Mayhann and Dusty Jones went 1-for-3 with an RBI each to lead the Saints.

Trey Matherson went 0-for-1 with an RBI; and Conner Smith, Monterio May, Michael Tedford and Blake Grill had one hit each.

Kade Suther struck out four and allowed two runs on three hits in five innings.

Houston Mabray allowed one run on one hit; and Brady Eldridge allowed a walk.

BSCC took a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but the Saints answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own for the tie.

The Mobile team added one run in the sixth, but LBWCC tacked on two in the seventh.

Mayhann went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Saints.

Grill, Smith and Brandon Pugh had two hits each. Smith also hit in three RBIs.

Chance Calloway struck out four and allowed one run on seven hits in six innings.
