An Andalusia woman is behind bars after she allegedly broke into a vehicle at a local church and took more than $1,000.

Lt. Barney Tyree of the Andalusia Police Department said Thursday that a report was filed on Sept. 16 regarding the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that was parked at a local church.

It was found that $1,450 in cash was taken along with other personal items belonging to the victim.

Additionally, Tyree said reports were also filed for two separate burglaries and thefts that had occurred at another business in Andalusia on Sept. 3 and Sept. 10 where cash and personal items were taken from the business.

Tyree said Christie Samantha Worley, 34, was developed as a suspect.

Worley was arrested Wednesday on two counts of burglary third degree and two counts of theft of property third degree after admitting to having committed the burglaries at the Andalusia business on Sept. 3 and Sept. 10.

Worley also admitted to having committed the crime of unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle and theft of property second degree on Sept. 16 and was arrested for that as well, Tyree said.

Worley was booked at the APD and was taken to the Covington County Jail on a $46,000 bond. Tyree said other charges may be pending.
