The Andalusia ninth grade boys basketball team improved to 2-0 by defeating Houston Academy 38-27 Monday night.

“The kids played another good game against a tough opponent,” coach Richard Robertson said. “They continue to improve shooting the ball.”

R.J. Drish lead the Bulldogs with 9 points and J’Quinton Stallworth added 7 points for the Bulldogs.

“We still have some work left, but that is what these early games are for,” Robertson said. “We have a lot of ninth graders this season, and we are splitting them between the ninth grade team and the B-team.”

Robertson stressed the importance of the playing time these kids get in the ninth grade games.

“We want them out there focused, and learning the same thing that the varsity team is learning. You never know when one of them might have to step up and fill in someone else’s shoes on varsity,” Robertson said. “That is why I practice them all together, so that they can learn from and help each other out.”
