Participants are needed in the 26th annual Miss Conecuh River Beauty Pageant, officials said Tuesday.

The annual pageant is the main fundraiser for the Straughn High School Band Boosters organization.

Amanda Cooper of the organization said the boosters use money raised to help supplement the needs of the Sound of Gold.

This year, the band boosters are working to raise funds to purchase at least 70 new band uniforms.

Cooper said right now there aren’t enough uniforms for the entire band.

The pageant is slated for next Sat., March 21, and is open for girls birth to 21 years of age.

Deadline to register is Friday.
