Take a ride on a magical carpet. Experience the thrill of living among lions in Africa.

Watch as kids’ favorite play toys come to life.

All of these will be on full display on Saturday night at the Revelers’ production of “Animated” inside the Guy Mason Auditorium at Red Level High School.

“Animated” is a play involving 14 different skits, which are inspired from Disney animated films, such as “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Toy Story,” to name a few.

RLS drama club sponsor Jennifer Withrow said the students have been working on the play for three months.

“They started planning it in the summer during drama camp,” Withrow said. “We usually do two major projects in a year.”

Withrow said the drama club did a haunted house project during Halloween, and that “Animated” is considered the spring show.

Withrow said the funds raised from the production will go to help purchase costumes, set pieces and lighting, among other things.

Twenty-five students in grades 7-12 will participate in the play.

Kayla Hinson, who will play Jesse from “Toy Story;” Ben Jackson, who will play Aladdin from “Aladdin;” and Will Shay — vice president of the RL drama club — who will play Pumbaa from “The Lion King,” the piggy bank from “Toy Story” and the guard from “Aladdin,” all said they are excited to be participating in the show.

“It’s going to be funny,” Hinson said.

Each of the skits will also feature the students’ own touch of fun.

Admission is $5 per person for the play and tickets can be purchased outside of the auditorium, where it will be held. The play is slated for 6 p.m.
