A Sanford man is facing multiple counts of sex abuse-related charges involving children under the age of 12.

Dallas Haney, 61, of Sanford was originally arrested in February for sex abuse of a child less than 12 and sodomy first degree.

Covington County Sheriff Office Investigator Wesley Snodgrass said that in the original case there was one child victim.

“Investigators with the sheriff’s office and social workers with DHR actively investigated his conduct after the arrest,” Snodgrass said.

On Wednesday, Haney was served with two more charges in an additional case against him involving another child under 12.

He was charged with an additional count of sex abuse of a child under 12 and rape in the first degree.

Snodgrass said the incident was reported and the sheriff’s office investigated the allegations.

“I would describe Mr. Haney as a serial pedophile with multiple victims over an extended period of time to include an arrest as far back as 1976 for child molestation,” Snodgrass said. “This is not the type of crime that is not repetitive.”

Snodgrass said investigators are continuing to work to identify additional victims that have come to their attention.

Haney is being held in the Covington County Jail on bonds totaling $700,000.
