Duffy to assume more part-time role with chamber

Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chrissie Schubert Duffy is stepping down from her position as director , citing a need to  spend more time focusing on her four children.

She will remain on the job through the hiring of her replacement, and is expected to then assume a part-time role with the Chamber.

Duffy was named director in January of 2014.

“It has been rewarding professionally, as well as personally, to serve as the executive director of the Chamber,” Duffy said. “Andalusia is a city with a great future and even greater people. My four children, though, are my highest priority. I look forward to being their full-time mother.”

Chamber Board President Stallion Sasser applauded Duffy for her leadership.

“On behalf of the board of directors, we want to thank Chrissie,” he said. “She has done a great job rebuilding our membership and leading community events. She has us moving in the right direction.”

Duffy will continue to be involved in the Chamber and will help with the hiring process of the new director and will train the person selected, Sasser said.

The Chamber is now taking applications for the position, and applicants may apply in person or via joblink.gov.

According to the job description, “the ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing marketing plans, maintaining and cultivating relationships with the Chamber members and the community, recruitment and retention of member,” as well as a host of other duties.

An associate/bachelor’s degree in business, public relations, marketing, tourism, hospitality, communications or a related field and/or a minimum of three years of experience is preferred in Chamber operations, hospitality, tourism or business management.

Pay is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits are included.
